š« Ktm 1090 Adventure R Reliability
26. Location: Southeast New Hampshire. I have almost 13,000 miles on my 2014 with no issues that werenāt self inflicted. In my opinion the KTM 1190 Adventure R is a great bike on and off road. As with any bike, modifications based on your riding style and region make it a better bike. (Me: 6ft, 200lbs)
The 950 adventure and the 990 adventure wanted somehow to be the āreplicasā of the dakar models, leaving the customers with some impressive experiences in terms of maneuverability and torque, but quite some challenges in regards to fuel consumptions and reliability. In this sense KTM got its bad reputation of not being āthe bestā bike
I have a 1290 super adventure R now and it is obviously much faster than the Yamaha. I find the seat much much more comfortable on the KTM also. The KTM actually does not pull as hard as the reflashed Tenere did until about 5000 RPM- the low end on the yamaha was great, but above 5000 rpm its just worlds faster than the yamaha from there on up
KTM marketed the 1190 Adventure (they now have a 1090 & a 1290) as a dual sport. I'll go down a dirt/gravel road, but even if I had the 'R' model, which has stiffer suspension, dual purpose tires, and a few other offroad features, wouldn't take 500 pounds very far from pavement.
KTM 950/990 Adventure Specs. PROS Fit and ready for the toughest on- or off-road assignment. Not often seen in Starbuckās parking lots. CONS Reliability can be spotty, regular maintenance is a must.
